Theory test: Exam mode

The law says: “The prohibition applies to overtaking a motor vehicle with more than two wheels. It does not apply to overtaking that may legally be done on the right.”

In Norway we have two types of speed limits: general and special. The general limits are 50 km/h (built‑up areas) and 80 km/h (outside). Special limits are always posted. Here 30 km/h is correct, because 50 and 80 are general limits and the cancelled 70 returns you to a general limit.

The sign indicates prohibition on continuing before stopping for the purpose stated in the text on the sign.

This sign means you may park, but during 08–18 on weekdays you may not park for more than 1 hour.

An exception can be when there is a queue in all lanes; then vehicles in one lane may pass to the right of those in another.

A motor‑traffic road resembles a motorway, but often has no median barrier and usually only one lane each way. It may have side roads connected at grade crossings, unlike a motorway.

This sign warns of a dangerous junction where you have priority; traffic from side or crossing roads must yield.

The traffic rules say: “When someone wants to pass on the left, the vehicle in front shall keep as far right as possible and not increase speed. When the vehicle moves slowly or is bulky, and the road is unclear or has oncoming traffic, the driver shall if necessary keep to the right and reduce speed or stop.”

This sign is an exit marker, so it belongs to the group “marker signs.”

A dotted border shows the road you are on leads to the road named on the sign.

This is also called “frost heave,” caused when ground moisture freezes to ice, moving and roughening the road surface.

You can experience oversteer if the car is rear‑heavy (e.g., too much load).

When you get your license, a 2‑year probation begins. If you lose it during that period you must re‑take the license, and a new probation begins.

There are many other things that can lengthen reaction time. You must be alert and focused when driving.

For example, Sweden uses white road markings where we use yellow to separate opposing traffic.

Passive safety means safety devices that protect the driver/passengers in a crash, e.g., airbags. ABS and ESC are examples of active safety, since they actively work to prevent accidents.

With a category B license you may drive a car approved for a maximum of 9 persons.
